Heather Medina has
always been in love with the past. As the 21st century races us
forward, she looks back longingly at eras gone by. In 1999, she opened
a vintage boutique, Tesoro, and began to share her passion with the
Pilsen neighborhood. Although the store has since closed, its spirit
lives on in her jewelry. Inspired by classic styles and infused with
vibrant colors and textures of other cultures, each piece is a hybrid
of vintage elegance and vivid ornament.
Heather's
residence in the artistically rich community of Pilsen, full of
resonant images and bold color combinations, has undoubtedly been an
influence on her work. Each of her pieces is a marriage of
semi-precious stones with antique brass, bone, silver, and trinkets
from places such as India, Afghanistan, Mexico, and China, making it an
individual treasure.
